**BAVET, SVAY RIENG** \u2013 In a decisive operation to combat cross-border cybercrime, Svay Rieng provincial authorities, in collaboration with national security departments, dismantled four illegal online operations on July 31, 2024*, resulting in the detention of 38 foreign suspects.<\/p>\n
The coordinated raid was led by **Colonel Kim Lai**, Deputy Police Commissioner of Svay Rieng Province, and **Major General Pol Ratana**, Deputy Director of the Criminal Department. The operation was conducted with the support of the Bavet City Administrative Unity Command, headed by Governor **Mr. Men Chanra**, under the legal coordination of **H.E. Kham Sophary**, Prosecutor of the Svay Rieng Provincial Court.<\/p>\n
Following a period of intensive surveillance, specialized forces executed simultaneous raids on four rental properties in Bavet Kandal and Bavet Leu villages, Sangkat Bavet. These locations were allegedly being used as operational hubs for fraudulent online activities.<\/p>\n
During the mission, authorities detained **38 individuals** (including 7 women) for questioning. The group consists of:
\n* **34 Vietnamese nationals** (7 females)
\n* **4 Bangladeshi nationals** (all male)<\/p>\n
In addition to the detentions, police seized a substantial array of electronic equipment suspected of being used in the commission of cyber-related offenses, including All-In-One desktop computers, laptops, mobile phones, and various networking peripherals.<\/p>\n
As of this report, specialized police units are finalizing the case files and processing evidence. The suspects are scheduled to be transferred to the Svay Rieng Provincial Court for further legal proceedings. The four targeted locations have been temporarily cordoned off and “sealed” pending the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n
This operation reflects the ongoing commitment of Cambodian law enforcement to eradicate technology-based crimes and maintain public order in the border regions.<\/p>\n
