PHNOM PENH —On Tuesday morning, the Cambodian Coordination Liaison Group (CLG) facilitated a strategic field visit for the ASEAN Observer Team-Cambodia (AOT-KH) to the Cambodia-Thailand border. Led by the Head of Mission from the Republic of the Philippines, the delegation conducted a formal verification and reporting mission at Border Marker 37, located in Thma Puok District, Banteay Meanchey Province.

The Ministry of National Defense stated that the initiative aims to provide ASEAN observers with a comprehensive, first-hand understanding of the current border environment. This transparency underscores the Royal Government of Cambodia’s steadfast position on resolving territorial matters exclusively through peaceful dialogue and established bilateral mechanisms, such as the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC).

Cambodia remains firmly committed to the principle of ‘Uti Possidetis Juris,’ adhering to historical French-Siamese treaties and the 2000 Memorandum of Understanding. By upholding these legal frameworks and international standards, the Kingdom continues to prioritize regional stability and the achievement of a lasting peace with its neighbor through diplomatic integrity and mutual respect.
